THE AUGUST ACT PROGRAM

The August Act Program is an acting program developed in collaboration with with Momentum Acting Studio.

This program consist of 4 stages. You can join each class separately or join the full program and be part of all 4 stages.
 
Besides these 4 stages there are 4 additional classes which can be joined independently fromthese four stages.
 
We are asking each candidate for this workshop to send a brief “motivational” self tape recorded with cell phone. Please just tell us where you are from, a bit about what you’ve been doing, let us know about any previous exposure to act training you’ve had, and finally, what you hope to gain from the one week intensive here in Amsterdam. Having this profile also helps us choose text material to use for each actor to work with during the workshop. Please forward your self tape to: AugustActProgram@gmail.com

Pay the Registration Fee to secure a place on the course.
Pay the Final Fee before the Course begins.

N.B. Don’t pay for the Course until  you have been accepted!

The August Act Program

The studio will be pleased to offer a fee reduction -per class- should anyone decide to take all four weeks of the August program. Please email us if you wish to take all four weeks, and we’ll arrange a pricing for the package of classes.

Discover the tools to structure your behavioural and emotional availability without losing spontaneity. From Strasberg, Adler, Meisner, draw how to make specific personal choices to shape your original authenticity.

How to deepen, shape and ground  your genuine emotional availability to serve a text while remaining in the moment and open to the variables of your partner and your director. Discover tools from Adler, Strasberg, Meisner

From Text to Screen/Stage – Stage IV

How to make a text yours and bring consistency to your take while remaining open and respectful of the writers and/or directors’ intentions. Learn to boil down the complexity of a text to a preparation personal and actable to put the text on its feet with seamless adaptability (Strasberg, Adler, Meisner, Mamet’s Practical Aesthetics).
 
*For the first half of day 6 of this workshop, we’ll conduct an Audition Technique segment.
 
*This workshop works at Intermediate/Advanced level goals.

A 3 day workshop to rejuvenate your audition pieces by behaviourally and emotionally creating a direct link to the heart of your audience, carrying the story forward with a direct-able interpretation that you can make authentically yours.

Beyond Acting Habits

Reconnect reason & heart, mind & emotions and expand your imagination to function at your full potential. Through a series of exercises, you’ll become aware of the tensions you learnt to build in your body to hold back your emotions, then you’ll be able to gently unlock & use them to regain a wider, deeper emotional & imaginative range to nourish your acting palette.

*Open to actors, singers, dancers and artists of all backgrounds. Bring a pocket mirror, a notebook with pen or pencil, some tissues and some water. Wear clothes that you are comfortable in.

The Lab -Scene and/or Monologues

The Lab -Scene and/or Monologues

During these 4 hour workouts, bring whatever you want to work on. Need advice handling the challenges of the technical elements of a piece of text you want to try yourself out with? Or, if you want to bring in a monologue or a scene (or both) to work through. We will do so. And certainly, we encourage bringing in a scene or monologue of your very own ,original dramatic/comedic text.
