Flex your screen acting muscles; learn some new tools for screen prep and delivery; take some show-reel footage home.
You will work on one challenging scene from TV or Film over the weekend.
DAY ONE
With Working Camera
AM
Exercises to promote ensemble and connection.
Film scenes, one take only.
Give feedback on scenes, impart screen PREPARATION tools, then actors/ pair hive off and prepare for the second attack.
PM
For each scene, two shot, TWO TAKES. In between each take discuss/ impart screen DELIVERY hacks and tools.
Time permitting, do a deep dive into Character
DAY TWO
With Pro Camera
AM
After warm-ups and line runs, discuss scenes and rehearse in our filming locations, no camera, but camera person in attendance.
PM
Then, single shot, film on location, for each actor.
End the day with a Q & A – QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION
I’ll take questions from students about any and all aspects of the profession. Peter can discuss, among other topics:
- Creating your own work.
- The commerce side of the Art/ Commerce equation: treating yourself like a business.
- Career survival and stamina tips.
It is strongly recommended that attendees read Peter’s Handbook on Acting, ‘Acting and How to Survive it.
Tutor Peter Feeney
Peter Feeney has been a professional actor since 1994, working in UK, US, Australian and NZ Theatre, TV & Film. He runs his own Auckland Screen Acting school, the Actors Lab Studio, and is a guest teacher at Drama schools and for organisations such as MEAA, NZ Equity and SDGNZ. Peter is also a published author and has written numerous articles and several screenplays and books. His handbook on acting, ‘Acting and How to Survive it,’ was published in 2020 to great acclaim.
