The Immersive Meisner Technique week in Dublin

Come to Dublin for an emotionally challenging and creatively inspiring week of Meisner with Momentum Acting Studio.

The goals:
1. Empowering you with a clear and practical acting technique.
2. Enriching your approach with depth, range, imagination and fullness of truth.
3. Discovering how to reveal, nurture, and refine your unique, emotional, imaginative, behavioral and creative potential.

The practical studio benefits the why-and-how of the One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin.

Mulholland Academy is offering their Diploma students (International Foundational Diploma Program AND Professional Diploma Program students) the option of pursuing one full course credit towards completion of a “one year” diploma by taking part in 5 days of additional, “intensive” Meisner based technique course work with Robbie and Liza at Momentum Studio in Dublin. This option is designed as additional, immersive study in the Meisner technique for students who:

1. just generally, strongly desire to experience both additional Meis-ner training, and to have the Dublin cultural experience at the same time.

2. need to make up for lost/missed diploma centered class hours. For one reason or another, the “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” may be for Diploma students who may have missed the Mulholland Meisner Introduction or Advanced cycle of Meisner classes, and need this make up opportunity.

3. are working at “Diploma” status on a part time basis ( over 18 to 24 months). As part- time Diploma students they may, during any given term, have a hard time slipping into regular classes for their own reasons – a work conflict, or, difficulty booking a regular class while they are also seeking a University degree. Or, as Mulholland class options are often fully booked for a class they want – the “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” immersive study option stands available, if they wish, to recover an additional diploma credit in a condensed time period of 5 workshop days.

“One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” – How it works:

Students may elect to do this option throughout the year during the regular Mulholland class schedule.
In order to ensure the smooth progression of class work here in Amsterdam, there are some limitations and guidelines set for Diploma students who wish to exercise this option:

1. Diploma Students, in any given “term(1st to 6th)” may elect to do the one-week Meisner technique “immersive” at Momentum Acting Studio in Dublin. Though, for any 7 week term, students may only arrange this for weeks 3, 4, 5 in any 7 week class cycle.
For a 6 week cycle, students may only elect to exercise this option in week 3, or week 4.

2. Only 1 student at a time, from any on-going, regularly scheduled Mulholland class group would be able to go away for one of the “immersive” weeks of study available to them at Momentum Acting Studio in Dublin (one student may go in week 3, one in week 4, and one in week 5).

2A. -The above in mind: students wanting to exercise this option- the opportunity to do so will be guided on a “first come, first serve basis.” In any given class group, should more than one student want this we will go forward with the 1st student who fully applies and then meets criteria.

3. Students in any diploma course, for any discipline(Strasberg, Lecoq, Act for Camera, Speech, Play Production, Scene Study, etc), they may take a one week break from the ongoing class schedule to do the “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin”. All teachers at Mul-holland will be alerted to make allowances for this.

4. Additionally, on offer for a full diploma program credit, if a student wanted to do “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” (for 1 full diploma credit) in September before starting their classes on the ground here in Amsterdam, or, at the end of the year after Mulholland closes the regular class season in June, then they may use either of these periods of time to exercise the “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin”.

5. The course fee for “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” will be set to match similar pricing for a 5 day workshop here in Am-sterdam. Students pursuing this option for diploma credit will submit payment for the Dublin workshop, and also pay their normal 6 to 7 week class fees.

Note: For doing “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin”, and then returning to ongoing weekly diploma class(es) in Amsterdam – for diploma track students: you will be receiving a full diploma credit for each of these trainings(2 credits) – towards completing your requirements for diploma.

6. Student actors wishing to pursue this unique opportunity for addi-tional study in Dublin must arrange their own travel and lodging in the city of Dublin for the duration of the stay.

7.  Travel arrangements should be made to leave Amsterdam after last weekly class in the hours or days before the beginning of your week in Dublin. Students are also expected to return to their regularly scheduled class on time in Amsterdam for the week following the Dublin workshop.

The Week in Dublin with Robbie and Liza, Meisner technique veterans and founders of Momentum Acting Studio, Dublin, Ireland.

Study goals:

• Tailored classes – depending on what stage of the technique you have reached (repetition exercise, in-dependent activity, knock on the door, Relationship/Shared Event, Text Analysis etc…) working with local actors, Robbie and Liza will deepen your understanding and approach.
• Cold Reading/Audition Skills – begin to learn a cold reading technique to use at your next audition. You will be filmed so see the progress you make by applying the technique during the class.
• Beyond Acting Habits the Actor’s Gym – reconnect reason & heart, mind & emotions to function at your full potential and expand your imagination. Through a series of exercises, you’ll become aware of the tensions you learnt to build in your body to hold back your emotions, then you’ll be able to gently unlock & use them to regain a wider, deeper emotional & imag-inative range to nourish your acting palette
• Meeting daily for 3 hours in Dublin. Robbie and Liza of Momentum Acting Studio will confirm exact times well in advance.

* Given that students who would come from Mulholland/Amsterdam would be available during the day in Dublin, Momentum (Robbie and Liza) will prioritize sessions for “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” to be conducted during the day-time hours.

*There will be of course free time left over in Dublin during the week. There may be a number of Professional/ semi-professional play productions going during your stay in Dublin.

Students, please note:
The “One Week of Meisner Study Abroad/Dublin” is for Diploma students – taking a break from regular schedule Amsterdam – who have clearly demonstrated they are in good standing with their regular classes. We realize to maintain classwork in Amsterdam, and then also insert the Dublin opportunity into a 6 or 7 week cycle, it may require extra-ordinary time management to travel and then keep up with additional class work in a 7 day period.
The Studio reserves the right to discourage this opportunity for any diploma student who we determine risks not adequately managing the challenges of juggling both study tracks simultaneously for the 7 day period.
